CAMRA is an active consumer advocate group campaigning on issues of beer quality and craft brewing issues. Our membership is diverse and representative of all walks of life. We know about beer: brewing it, serving it, drinking and enjoying it. We know who’s brewing what and where to get it.
In British Columbia, our aim is to protect the interests of beer drinkers, to support the continued flourish of craft-breweries and brew pubs, and to encourage other establishments to offer a good choice of great beers.
Currently there are branches in Penticton, Vancouver and Victoria.
Why Do We Campaign?
Well, we care about good beer. We want to see the products of our vibrant craft brewing industry in British Columbia as the norm, not the exception. We know that we count.
Over the years, CAMRA BC has been influential in spearheading or supporting several successful campaigns. Right now, we’re providing the government with written submissions to encourage the lowering of taxes on beer, we’re sending delegates to public meetings to support the principle of neighbourhood pubs, we’re offering the Province our advice on changes to the Society Act, and we’re promoting real ale through various media.
Mostly, though, we do non-political fun stuff. Monthly meetings, tastings, brewery tours, pub visits across the province and in Washington, Oregon and even farther afield.
